2011 Ecology and Freedom Workshop Series

Knowing the Land is Resistance (From Hamilton)
- Why is there so little forest left? Who benefits from this? What do
healthy natural communities look like in this area? What roles do the
various plants and animals play in these communities? How do disturbed
wild spaces heal themselves? How can we, humans raised in this
constrictive colonial, capitalist system, participate in that healing?
Knowing the Land is Resistance Collective will be doing some traveling, to
explore wild spaces throughout the Southern Ontario region and to connect

Backyard Cob Oven Building Workshop

Saturday October 16 and Sunday October 17 at 10 am
The backyard at 504 Elm Street, Windsor

Come out and help build an outdoor, earthen bread oven the 3rd weekend in October, 2 houses down from the WGGC garden. It should be a good introduction to building with cob, and a great practical application of natural building techniqes. Plus, we'll all get to sample some home-made bread when we're done.(After it cures in the sun for a week)

Help Us Build a Small StrawBale Shed/GreenHouse!!

The Gaia collective has partnered with WECSA to build a small storage
shed/greenhouse with a commitment to using natural (or reclaimed)
materials and self-reliant building techniques. We are inviting the
community to share in this project and come helpout. Our goal is to spread
the knowledge we attain through this project and give people a chance to
have first hand experience with sustainable, DIY building methods.
